A manager of Private Office called back a bridegroom on the wedding day, saying that the wedding is not an emergency.

Lahore: Sometimes the office world becomes so stressful that even the most personal matters of employees seem weak in the face of project priorities. Recently, an employee took to social media to share his similar concerns when his boss asked him to work on a very difficult project before his wedding.

According to the employee, every task in the office is considered important but there is no clear guidance or planning for the task. Several managers give instructions simultaneously, but no one takes responsibility. Micromanagement has become the norm on a daily basis, which includes Zoom calls all the time and hourly updates, but there is no trust.

The employee said that the company has also imposed a distance restriction, according to which no one can work more than 120 km away. The managers who lead him are neither on-site nor off-site; they are just busy pleasing the management.

The employee said that he had informed his managers about the wedding two months ago, but the project leaders ignored him and expected him to work on weekends as well.

The senior project manager even said, “Marriage is not an emergency; this situation is more difficult for the employee because he has to be released from the project in March, and the wedding cannot be postponed.” The employee said that he is not able to get out of this dilemma of what to do now.

Users on social media showed keen interest in the situation. One user wrote that when everything is important, nothing is actually important. Another user suggested that if financial circumstances allow, take some time off from work and focus on the wedding, so that there are no regrets later.

Some users also shared their positive experiences, with one user writing that his boss mistakenly called him for work on the day of his engagement, but as soon as he found out, he immediately apologized and told him to enjoy the day.
