On the instructions of CPO Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Hamdani,
Rawalpindi Police is carrying out a crackdown against kite suppliers of kites.
During operations conducted in different areas, seven kite suppliers were
arrested, and a large quantity of kites and strings were recovered.
According to the police, a total of 3100 kites and 12
strings were seized. Ratta Amaral Police arrested two persons and recovered
2250 kites and 4 strings. Taxila Police arrested one accused and recovered 400
kites and 2 strings from his possession. Wah Cantt Police arrested three
persons and recovered 200 kites and 5 strings, while Gujar Khan Police arrested
one person and recovered 250 kites and one string.
Separate cases have been registered against all the arrested
persons, and they have been shifted to lockups. Police say that kite flying has
been declared a non-bailable offence as it is a bloody sport that has become a
serious threat to human lives.
Police officials have made it clear that kite flying and
those involved in its business will not be able to escape the clutches of the
law under any circumstances, and indiscriminate action will continue against
this heinous business.
