US President Donald Trump has confirmed the attack on
Venezuela, saying that President Nicolas Maduro and his wife have been arrested
and sent out of the country.
The US President said on social media that the United States
has successfully carried out a large-scale attack on Venezuela and its leaders,
the operation was carried out in collaboration with US law enforcement
agencies.
On Twitter, Donald Trump said that Maduro and his wife were
arrested after the operation and taken out of the country.
Earlier, US officials had confirmed to US media that
President Donald Trump approved the attack on Venezuela. US officials told CBS
News that President Trump ordered attacks on various locations inside
Venezuela, including military installations. The attacks follow months of US
military preparations in the region, which have seen the aircraft carrier USS
Gerald R. Ford and several other warships deployed to the Caribbean.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro confirmed the US attack
and declared a state of emergency in the country. He said that the US has
attacked Venezuela. We reject and strongly condemn US military aggression. US
aggression could endanger international peace and stability. Maduro described
the US attack as an attempt to seize the country's resources and said that the
US wants to seize Venezuela's strategic resources, oil and minerals. He said
that such attempts will not succeed.
