The cricket dispute between Bangladesh and India has
intensified over the T20 World Cup. Bangladesh has refused to issue a visa to
the Indian official who was part of the ICC delegation, while only the Head of
Anti-Corruption and Security, Andrew F.Grey has been granted a visa.
According to Indian media, Andrew F.Grey will meet
Bangladeshi board officials during this visit and discuss the venues and
security issues of the World Cup.
It should be remembered that Bangladesh has also boycotted
playing in India after Mustafizur Rahman was expelled from the IPL, which has
further increased the dispute between the two countries.
F. Graves is a former British police officer and
international sports security expert and has been tasked with negotiating with
Bangladeshi authorities to ensure that the players' security during the matches
in India is complete.
The tour is being seen as a 'last ditch effort' by the ICC,
as Bangladesh have also requested that the group stage matches be moved to Sri
Lanka instead of India due to security concerns. With time running out for the
T20 World Cup, Andrew F. Graves now has to convince Bangladesh to play as
scheduled, or the future of the tournament could be in doubt.
