Illegal human organ processing factory exposed in Islamabad, 5 suspects including Chinese and Pakistani nationals arrested

Islamabad: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Islamabad Zone has carried out a major operation and unearthed an organized network involved in illegal processing of human organs and smuggling them abroad in the federal capital. During the operation, five suspects including three Chinese and two Pakistani nationals were arrested.

According to the FIA, a raid was conducted late at night at a residential house located in Sector F-7 Islamabad on a confirmed tip-off, where a complete plant for illegal processing of human organs, especially human placenta (an organ excreted after the birth of newborns), was set up.

Initial investigation revealed that the suspects were processing and drying human placenta under a specific procedure to manufacture various products. These products were exported abroad, especially to Vietnam, under the name of “she-placenta”.

According to FIA officials, on the identification of the arrested accused, another location located between Sector F-7 and E-11 was also raided, where another processing center of the same type was found to be operational. A large quantity of finished goods, raw materials and advanced equipment used in processing were recovered from both the locations.

Officials said that the evidence obtained during the operation shows that this network was involved in the illegal processing and export of human organ material systematically. More evidence is being collected in this regard to get access to other members of the network and possible facilitators.

The FIA has registered a case against the accused under relevant provisions of the Human Organs Transplantation Act (HOTA) 2010, while the investigation of the arrested persons is underway.

According to officials, the domestic and international links of this illegal business are also being examined during the investigation and more arrests are expected.
