Islamabad:The IT Ministry has sought funds of more than Rs
1.67 billion for the fiscal year 2026-27.
The funds have been proposed to be allocated for three
projects: Pakistan Startup Fund, Bridge Start Pakistan and e-Rozgar.
According to the document, it has been recommended to keep
one billion rupees for startup financing and venture capital, the total cost of
the 3-year Pakistan Startup Fund is Rs 3 billion as already more than Rs 130
million has been spent so far.
Rs 264 million has been sought for the establishment and
expansion of digital centers for freelancers, 80 digital centers have been
established in 30 districts across the country, more than 6,500 seats are
available.
According to the document, Rs 408 million has been proposed
for e-Rozgar and Digital Skills Program.
The projects aim to strengthen the startup ecosystem,
increase freelancing employment, and develop an IT-skilled workforce, all of
which will accelerate the transition to a digital economy.
