Millions of rupees are wasted of the National exchequer in the name of reward money

The FBR has distributed cash rewards of more than Rs 484.4 million to customs officers and officials and informers contrary to the rules, the Auditor General of Pakistan's report revealed.

In light of the Auditor General's report, the FBR has now started a special audit of the amount distributed of more than Rs 480 million.

According to the rules, rewards can be given only for exceptional performance, while the FBR thinks that after the approval of the FBR board, rewards were given to officers and officials on the basis of outstanding performance, but the Auditor General did not agree with the FBR's statement.

The Auditor General also instructed 40 officers and officials to immediately recover because they were given rewards against the reward law. According to the sources, complaints were also made to the relevant forums by several officers regarding not receiving rewards, on which the FBR has formed a special audit team, which will initially conduct audits in Lahore, Multan and Quetta. The audit team has been given 3 weeks to complete the audit.
