Sri Lanka refuses to allow US warplanes to base there

Colombo: Sri Lanka has refused to provide a base for US warplanes.

Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake told Parliament that the US had requested the deployment of two fighter jets to the Mattala International Airport in early March.

The Sri Lankan President said that the US planes were equipped with anti-ship missiles and were planned to be brought to Sri Lanka from a base in Djibouti.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake told the House that we had clearly refused the US request.

It should be noted that earlier, many US allies had also refused to participate in the war against Iran, to which US President Donald Trump had complained and said that we do not need anyone's help.
