Lebanese Prime Minister strongly condemns the killing of journalist Amal Khalil, calling it a war crime

Beirut: Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has strongly condemned the killing of journalist Amal Khalil, calling it a clear war crime.

He said that preventing aid teams from reaching the affected area is also part of the same crime. He said in a statement on the social media platform X that the targeting of journalists in southern Lebanon while carrying out their professional duties can no longer be seen as isolated incidents.

Nawaf Salam said that this is a regular and proven practice that is condemned under Lebanese and international laws and principles. The Lebanese Prime Minister said that Lebanon will do everything possible to raise these crimes in international courts.

Human rights activists have called on the Lebanese government to join the Rome Statute and submit alleged Israeli violations to the International Criminal Court.
