Moscow: Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif may
visit Russia in June and is expected to meet Vladimir Putin during the visit.
This was stated by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Moscow, Faisal
Niaz Tirmizi, in an interview. He said that work is underway on the dates of
the visit, and it is hoped that this important visit will be possible by June.
According to the Pakistani ambassador, the Prime Minister is
seeing this visit as a historic opportunity and he is eager to meet the Russian
President. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif sees Russian President Vladimir Putin
as an influential world leader and a wise figure and is eager to meet him.
While discussing the situation in the Middle East, Faisal
Niaz Tirmizi said that Pakistan has requested Russia to use its influence on
Israel to reduce the growing tension with Iran. He further said that diplomatic
channels between Islamabad and Moscow have always been active and through them
the message was given that a war with Iran could prove detrimental to Israel.
The Pakistani ambassador expressed his determination that
Pakistan would continue its role in establishing peace and stability in the
region and would continue to actively participate in diplomatic efforts at the
global level.
