Moscow: During his visit to China, Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold detailed talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping on important issues including bilateral relations, energy cooperation and the global political situation, while the Power of Siberia 2 gas pipeline project will also be on the agenda.
Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov, while giving a
briefing, said that President Putin will arrive in Beijing on the evening of
May 19, where he will be welcomed by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. An
official reception ceremony will be held in honor of President Putin at
Tiananmen Square in Beijing on May 20.
According to Yuri Ushakov, the Russian delegation will be of
a very high-level and representative nature, including five deputy prime
ministers, eight federal ministers, the head of the Russian Central Bank Elvira
Nabiullina, heads of various Russian regions and CEOs of large public and
private companies.
He said that President Putin and Xi Jinping will discuss the
most sensitive aspects of Russia-China relations, while special attention will
be paid to hydrocarbon and energy cooperation. There will also be detailed
discussions on the Power of Siberia 2 gas pipeline project, which is considered
one of the most important energy cooperation projects between Russia and China.
Russia and China will also sign about 40 different
agreements and documents, while the two leaders will also participate in the
opening ceremony of the Cross Years of Education Program.
Yuri Ushakov said that Russia and China support the
establishment of a fair and multipolar world order at the global level and most
of the foreign policy positions of the two countries are fully consistent with
each other. Moscow and Beijing are not allying against anyone, but are
cooperating for peace, stability and global prosperity.
According to the Russian presidential aide, the trade volume
between Russia and China last year reached about $240 billion, while almost all
trade transactions between the two countries are now taking place in rubles and
yuan.
He further said that in the first quarter of this year, oil
exports from Russia to China increased by 35 percent, while Russia is among the
major suppliers of natural gas and LNG to China.
