The next round of talks between the US and Iran is likely to begin in Islamabad next week.

The two countries are working on a 14-point memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at setting a framework for a month-long negotiation process.

The draft includes issues such as Iran's nuclear program and the transfer of enriched uranium stocks to another country. The US has also called for a 20-year freeze on enrichment and the dismantling of specific facilities (Fordo, Natanz, Isfahan).

The parties are discussing reducing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and ensuring safe passage for ships. US President Donald Trump has recently announced a temporary break in the ongoing naval blockade under "Project Freedom" to allow for diplomatic efforts.

Pakistan, Qatar and other Gulf states are playing an active role behind the scenes to bring the parties back to the negotiating table.
