Wasim Akram's Spiritual Decision: Journey from Five-Star Hotel to Mosque and Madrassa

It is a fact that when Allah Ta'ala wants to put the concern of the Hereafter in the heart of a person, He creates some means for it, as a result of which that person is inclined to beautify his Hereafter away from worldly desires.

In this regard, earlier reports have narrated an incident about the famous former cricketer Wasim Akram who bought a valuable land in Karachi on which his initial plan was to build a five-star hotel. However, with time, there was a significant change in his thinking and he decided to dedicate this land to the name of a mosque and madrasa for the pleasure of Allah.

It is said that after attaining the blessing of Hajj, there was a deep change in his thoughts and priorities. After this spiritual journey, he dedicated about five kanals of land for a mosque and madrassa, on which the foundation of a grand mosque was later laid.

On this important occasion, he was accompanied by Inzamam-ul-Haq, Saeed Anwar, Muhammad Yusuf and other personalities including the well-known religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel, who praised the decision.

According to Waseem Akram, before Hajj, his intention was to build a luxury hotel at the same place, but after Hajj, his thinking changed completely. He also described the role of his close friend Saeed Anwar as important in this change.

He said that now he wishes that a beautiful and peaceful mosque and madrasa should be established at this place, so that it can become a continuous charity for his parents. He also clarified that he has allocated crores of rupees initially for this project, while he will bear the entire construction costs himself, God willing.

The design of the proposed mosque will be inspired by Turkish-style mosques, and includes plans to provide all possible amenities for worshippers. Waseem Akram said that the real honor and peace is not in worldly achievements but in the path of Allah, and all this change was made possible by the grace of Allah and the blessing of good company.
