A coal mine in Quetta has become a well of death as 34 miners died in the explosion. The terrible explosion in a coal mine in the Soranj area of ​​Quetta has shattered the lives of dozens of families. So far, the bodies of 34 miners have been recovered, while rescue operations are still underway to search for others buried under the rubble.

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), a methane gas explosion suddenly occurred in a coal mine near Spin Kariz in Soranj, which caused the mine to collapse and several workers inside were buried under the rubble.

Rescue teams immediately started rescue operations despite the difficult conditions. In the initial phase, the bodies of 18 miners were recovered, while later the bodies of 16 more workers were recovered, taking the total death toll to 34.

According to the PDMA, there were 42 workers in the mine at the time of the explosion and rescue personnel are busy trying to reach the remaining workers buried under the rubble. Provincial Minister for Mines and Minerals Shoaib Noshirwani said that despite the extremely difficult conditions, the rescue operation is continuing uninterrupted and all available resources are being used to reach all the workers trapped in the affected mine.

He said that the government shares condolences with the families of the miners who died in this tragic accident. The government has announced financial assistance of Rs. 500,000 each to the families of the deceased workers and Rs. 300,000 each to the injured. He added that every aspect of the accident will be investigated to determine those responsible.

On the other hand, the owner of the coal mine told the media that according to initial reports, the explosion was due to methane gas filling. He said that all the workers in the mine belonged to Shangla district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to rescue officials, the search for more workers who may be buried under the rubble is ongoing, while the government has assured a complete investigation into the accident and all possible help to the affected families.
