Rawalpindi: Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand met with
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi,
where they discussed in detail matters of mutual interest, regional security
and bilateral relations between Pakistan and Canada.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR),
during the meeting, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir highlighted Pakistan’s stance
on global peace and regional stability and said that cooperation and
coordinated efforts are indispensable to address common security challenges.
According to the ISPR, the Field Marshal stressed the need
to further strengthen cooperation between Pakistan and Canada to effectively
address other common threats, including terrorism.
On this occasion, Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand
appreciated Pakistan’s continuous efforts, sacrifices and role in the fight
against terrorism and also praised Pakistan’s constructive efforts to promote
peace and stability in the region.
According to the ISPR, in the meeting, both sides reaffirmed
their commitment to further promote bilateral relations between Pakistan and
Canada and expand cooperation in the fields of defense and security. The
meeting is being described as an important step towards promoting mutual trust,
cooperation and regional peace between the two countries.
