In recent days, reports of transfers and departures of several senior officers, including the Secretary, Planning Commission, in the Ministry of Planning are raising many questions. Is the impression also being created that there are no significant differences at the administrative and policy levels within the ministry?

According to sources, the Secretary Planning Commission got himself transferred after differences with the Federal Minister on some issues. Some observers say that decision-making was weak during his tenure.

At the same time, now reservations are being expressed in various circles about the officer who is being given the additional charge of Secretary. If this impression is correct, the question arises as to who is in charge of the important sector like planning of the country?

Sources further claim that an officer from Narowal, who had earlier served as the Federal Minister’s PSO, has been promoted rapidly in a short period of time, first from SO to DS and now given the additional charge of Joint Secretary.

Similarly, another DMG officer, who had previously served as Deputy Commissioner in Narowal, quietly moved to the Ministry of Energy after a short stint in the ministry.

According to reports, Additional Secretary Bashir Khetran, Dr. Tariq Moj and several other senior officers have also left the ministry, while the hardworking and capable Section Officer of the ministry, Dilshad Hussain, was also recently transferred to the Ministry of Finance.

According to sources, one of the reasons for these transfers and departures is the behavior of an officer on deputation from NADRA, alleged inappropriate behavior with senior officers and an environment of pressure. There is a dire need for an immediate independent investigation into these claims.

 It is also being said that several technical and development matters of the ministry are being handled by a few specific officers instead of the relevant departmental heads, while permanent project directors are not being appointed in many development projects despite repeated recruitment advertisements, which is also raising questions about the effective use of national resources.
