Beauty filter fails in live stream, Chinese influencer loses 1.4 million followers

According to reports, the influencer was doing a live session with her followers. She usually used beauty filters that make the skin look smoother, the face more attractive and the eyes look bigger. However, during the stream, the filter suddenly failed and her true appearance became visible, in which the natural texture of the skin and the effects of age were clear.

The video quickly went viral on social media, after which there was a mixed reaction from users, with some people accusing her of deceiving followers while others said that the use of filters is part of online entertainment and digital culture and should not be viewed negatively.

After the incident, the influencer lost about 140,000 followers, while a significant decrease was also reported in the gifts and donations she received. The influencer’s name was not disclosed.

According to experts, the use of filters on social media is common, but such incidents remind users that the image presented online does not always reflect the full reality.

Analysts said the incident could spark new debates about authenticity, beauty standards and online fame trends in China's rapidly growing live streaming industry.
