Muhammad Yunus thanks the nation for holding peaceful elections in Bangladesh


 

Dhaka: The Chief Advisor to the Interim Government of Bangladesh, Professor Muhammad Yunus, has congratulated the nation on the peaceful and orderly conduct of the 13th national parliamentary elections and the referendum on the implementation of the July National Charter, thanking the people, institutions and relevant authorities.

In his statement after the end of voting, Professor Muhammad Yunus appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the people and said that the citizens played an active role in shaping the future of the country by exercising their constitutional right. He also praised the responsible conduct and professionalism of the political parties, candidates and institutions associated with the electoral process.

The Chief Advisor expressed special gratitude to the Election Commission, law enforcement agencies, armed forces, civil administration, observer missions, media representatives and election staff, saying that their hard work and dedication made this great democratic process a success.

He urged the political parties and candidates to maintain democratic traditions, tolerance and mutual respect even after the announcement of the final results. He said that differences of opinion are natural, however, unity must be prioritized in the national interest.

Professor Yunus said that Bangladesh has once again proven that the real power lies with the people. He pledged that the government will continue to work towards establishing a more accountable, inclusive and just state.

He described the election process as a national celebration, saying it was one of the most peaceful and dignified elections in the country's history. According to him, if this positive trend continues, Bangladesh's democracy will touch new heights.
