The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Balochistan Zone took
timely and effective action against a suspected organized beggar network at
Quetta International Airport and detained the accused. A detailed press
conference was also held in this regard at FIA Zonal Office Quetta.
According to the details, on February 24, 2026, three
passengers, Ghulam Shabbir, Abdul Rehman and Gul Muhammad, appeared for
immigration clearance on a private airline flight to Saudi Arabia for Umrah.
During the investigation, it was found that two passengers were physically
disabled and were using wheelchairs, while the third person was assisting them.
During the initial investigation, the passengers’
circumstances and movements were found suspicious, leading to the suspicion
that these individuals were being sent abroad to collect alms through an
organized begging network. On further investigation, the passengers revealed
that a facilitator, Adam Khan, helped them reach the airport.
The FIA team took immediate action and arrested the said
facilitator from the airport parking area. During the initial investigation,
the accused Adam Khan identified himself as a rickshaw driver and said that he
had taken the passengers to the airport. At the same time, Rs 60,000 in cash
was recovered from his possession, which was apparently provided by the
passengers through Easypaisa.
In view of the above evidence and suspicious situation, the
three passengers and the facilitator were taken into custody for further
investigation and were handed over to the FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Circle
(AHTC) Quetta for legal action.
Addressing a press conference held at FIA Zonal Office
Quetta, Deputy Director Anti-Human Trafficking, FIA Balochistan Zone, Quetta,
Bahawal Usto said that the FIA is continuing strict action under the zero
tolerance policy against the elements involved in organized beggar mafia, human
trafficking and illegal immigration. He said that such elements not only damage
the reputation of the country but also exploit the weaker sections of the
society.
He added that according to the initial investigation, the
fabric of this group is similar to the professional agent mafia present in
Punjab and the FIA is using all its resources to eliminate such networks and
strict action will be taken against the involved persons as per the law. He
appealed to the public to provide timely information about suspicious
activities to the relevant institutions.
On this occasion, Deputy Director of Immigration, Quetta
Airport, Babar Shahryar, said that the FIA is committed to eliminating human
trafficking, illegal immigration, and organized crime. He said that according
to initial investigations, this group was involved in begging abroad by
misusing Umrah visas, which not only brings disrepute to Pakistan at the global
level but also affects the reputation of the national passport.
According to the FIA, such activities fall under the
category of human trafficking and strict legal action is being taken against
them. Deputy Director Bawal Usto further said that cases have been registered
against the detained suspects under relevant laws and further investigation has
been initiated, while operations are also underway to arrest other people
associated with this network.
