Director of US Counterterrorism Center resigns over disagreement with Iran war

Washington: The Iran war has become a nightmare for Trump, after important allies, important government officials also started leaving, the first major resignation has come.

Joe Kent, the director of the US National Counterterrorism Center, has resigned from his post, opposing the ongoing war against Iran. In his social media statement, Joe Kent said that he cannot support this war against Iran according to his conscience.

He took the position that Iran was not an immediate threat to the United States and that this war was launched as a result of pressure from Israel and its influential American lobby.

In his resignation sent to Donald Trump, he said that Israeli officials played a major role in involving the United States in this conflict and a misinformation campaign was also launched for this purpose. He added that the arguments for attacking Iran and the claims of quick success reminded him of the situation before the 2003 Iraq War.

Joe Kent himself was a participant in the Iraq War, while his wife Shannon Kent was killed in action in Syria. He wrote that as a man who served 11 combat tours and lost his wife in a war started by Israel.

Joe Kent said that he could not support sending a new generation into a war that was not in the interest of the American people and that would cost human lives.
