Karachi: MQM-Pakistan leader and former Mayor of Karachi Waseem Akhtar has demanded that his party end its alliance with the federal government and resign from its ministries over the decision to change the Sindh Governor.
Speaking on a private TV program, Wasim Akhtar said that the
removal of Kamran Tesori from the post of governor is shocking news for us and
this came to light through the media.
He said that if such a decision was to be made, then the MQM
should have been consulted. Wrong traditions are being established by making
such decisions without talking to the MQM on board. The PML-N members are
taking votes from the MQM in decisions that serve their own interests.
He said that the demands made to the MQM have not been
fulfilled. Our party officials will now have to sit and see why the MQM is
being taken lightly. The authority of the governor's post will remain with the
MQM because the Prime Minister himself accepted this.
Waseem Akhtar said that MQM is an ally of the government, and
the desire to remove someone is rarely fulfilled.
The former mayor of Karachi said that during the PDM-1 era,
MQM had put its demands before the government, Shahbaz Sharif had agreed to our
demands, such decisions without consultation and without taking them into
confidence are incomprehensible.
