Araqchi contacts Saudi, French, Egyptian counterparts, discusses tensions

Tehran: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has made separate telephone calls with the Prime Minister of Qatar, the Foreign Ministers of Saudi Arabia, France and Egypt.

According to Arab media reports, Abbas Araqchi discussed diplomatic efforts with the Qatari Prime Minister, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, France’s Jean-Noël Barot and Egypt’s Badr Abdel Ati before arriving in Islamabad.

During the talks, progress regarding the ceasefire and challenges to its sustainability were discussed. On this occasion, consultations were held on the US-Iran negotiations and efforts to reduce tensions in the region were also discussed.

The Iranian Foreign Minister emphasized the constructive role of Europe, while France reiterated its support for continuing diplomacy and negotiations.

On the other hand, the leadership of the four countries urged Iran to maintain the continuity of the ceasefire, adhere to the path of negotiations and increase consultations.
