Tel Aviv: Anti-war protests have intensified across the
country after the ceasefire with Iran in Israel, with thousands of people
taking to the streets in various cities, including Tel Aviv, demanding peace.
According to foreign media, thousands of people participated
in the large protest in Tel Aviv’s Habima Square, while the police had set a
limit of only 1,000 people on the permit. The protesters chanted slogans
against the government’s war policies and the ongoing military operations in
Lebanon and the region.
The protesters held banners that read that the occupation of
southern Lebanon would be a disastrous decision and that until peace is
established, real security in Israel is not possible. The protesters demanded
that the government immediately end its war policy and adopt a diplomatic
solution.
According to reports, this is the sixth consecutive week
that anti-war protests have been taking place in Israel. This time the protests
also spread to other cities in the country, such as Jerusalem, Haifa and
Beersheba, where citizens participated in large numbers.
The protesters said that the ongoing tensions and military
operations in the region are endangering the lives of civilians, so the
government should immediately move towards peace talks.
