Security tightened in twin cities, public transport suspended, red zones sealed

Islamabad: In view of the arrival of foreign delegations due to possible negotiations in Islamabad, security has been tightened in the twin cities, the Red Zone has been completely sealed, while an alternative traffic plan has been issued, and all types of public and heavy transport have also been suspended in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

According to officials, the Red Zone and Extended Red Zone in Islamabad will remain completely closed to all types of traffic, while the expressway from Koral to Zero Point will also be closed, traffic can also be stopped on the Srinagar Highway at different times.

A complete ban has been imposed on the entry of all types of heavy traffic coming from any direction into Islamabad and owners have been instructed not to visit the city during these days.

Meanwhile, according to a statement issued by the Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi, all types of private, public and goods transport in the city have been suspended with immediate effect and this ban will remain in effect until further notice. Citizens have been assured that any new developments will be informed on time.

According to the district administration, these measures have been taken in view of the current security situation so that law and order can be maintained. Citizens have been asked to avoid unnecessary travel and cooperate with the administration.

In the federal capital, the district administration has also announced the suspension of public and heavy transport until further notice. According to officials, these measures aim to ensure the safety of citizens and prevent any untoward incident.

For the convenience of the citizens, under the alternative traffic plan, residents of G-5, G-6, G-7, F-6 and F-7 will use 9th Avenue from Margalla Road to Rawalpindi, while traffic going from Faisal Avenue to Zero Point will also be diverted to 9th Avenue.

In case of closure of Koral Chowk from Zero Point, citizens will be able to go to Koral from Srinagar Highway using 9th Avenue via Stadium Road, Murree Road, Chandni Chowk and Rawal Road, while in case of closure of Club Road from Park Road, traffic will be diverted to Taramri Chowk.

The administration has directed the citizens not to listen to rumors, get information only from authentic sources and fully implement the issued instructions.

According to the authorities, the situation is being continuously monitored and further decisions will be taken according to the situation.
