New York: A new study has revealed that birds living in cities are more fearful of women than men.
In a study published in the journal ‘People and Nature’ in
December 2025, researchers observed 37 different species of birds found in
cities in 5 European countries and the results revealed that these birds fly
away faster when women approach them than men.
According to the results of the study, birds can distinguish
the gender of humans approaching them. During this study, the researchers
carefully examined how far a bird decides to leave its place and fly away when
a human approaches.
During this study, it was found that men were able to keep
the birds calm until they got closer, on average, one meter, compared to women.
In this regard, Professor John Marzloff of the University of
Washington says that these research results are preliminary. Although birds
have the ability to recognize humans, the scientific reasons for their
different reactions based on gender are not yet fully clear.
