In a major operation during snap checking in Tando Muhammad
Khan, former civil judge Zahid Maghri was arrested along with his colleague
Sajjad Lashari.
According to police sources, when the suspicious vehicle was
stopped and searched, a large quantity of ammunition and illegal weapons were
recovered from the vehicle, after which the police immediately detained both persons
and seized the vehicle.
Sources say that this operation was carried out by the B
Section Police Tando Muhammad Khan, while 10 sacks were also recovered from the
possession of the accused during the search. According to initial reports, the
arrested persons are said to belong to the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area of Karachi.
According to police officials, during the investigation,
Zahid Maghri continued to present himself as a serving judge and also presented
a civil judge’s card to prove his identity; however, further investigation
revealed that he had been dismissed from his job a month ago. After this
revelation, the police took the matter more seriously and widened the scope of
the investigation.
Following the incident, B-Section police have registered two
separate cases against the accused, while investigations are also underway to
ascertain where the recovered goods were being transported and who else is
involved in the network. Police officials say that investigations are ongoing
and more important revelations are likely to emerge soon.
