Increase in petroleum product prices challenged in Lahore High Court

Lahore: The increase in petroleum product prices was challenged in the Lahore High Court.

The miscellaneous petition was filed by Azhar Siddique, the head of the Judicial Activism Panel. The petition took the position that petrol and diesel have become the most expensive in the region in Pakistan, and the continuous increase in the Petroleum Development Levy is unconstitutional.

The increase in petroleum product prices will lead to further inflation, and the court is requested to declare the recent increase in their prices null and void.

It should be noted that the government has increased the price of petrol by Rs 14.92 per liter, after which the new price of petrol has been set at Rs 414.78 per liter, while the price of high-speed diesel has been increased by Rs 15 per liter, after which the new price has been set at Rs 414.58.
