Lahore: It has been decided to install a firewall system in the government libraries of Punjab.
The decision has been taken to prevent cyber attacks and
access to irrelevant websites. Library members will be given access only to
educational and research materials, while modern firewall technology will be
used to improve digital security.
The firewall installation project has been estimated to cost
Rs 50 million. Formal approval has been obtained for the project from the
relevant forums. The project includes 14 government libraries across Punjab.
Steps have been taken to secure the IT systems of the libraries.
Preparations have been made to limit access to immoral and
unnecessary materials under the firewall system. The department has also
decided to make the library network safe and effective.
