Gilgit: The Muslim League (N) has issued party tickets for the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections.
According to party sources, on the instructions of Mian
Nawaz Sharif, the names of candidates for various constituencies were
officially announced. The Muslim League (N) has nominated candidates in all
districts including Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Astore, Diamer, Ghizer and Kharmang.
Sources said that tickets were issued to Shafiquddin, Hafiz
Hafeez-ur-Rehman and Muhammad Iqbal in the constituencies of Gilgit district,
and Muhammad Akbar Khan, Imtiaz Haider Khan and Ajmal Hussain in the
constituencies of Skardu.
Similarly, league candidates were also fielded in the
constituencies of Hunza, Kharmang, Shigar, Astore and Diamer, while no decision
has been made to issue tickets in the two constituencies of Nagar and Ganchhe
at present.
PML-N sources said that the distribution of tickets was done
on the basis of merit, party services and local consultation and a
comprehensive strategy has been formulated for complete success in the
elections.
On the other hand, the league candidates said that they will
achieve a clear victory in the elections with public support, and practical
measures for the development and prosperity of Gilgit-Baltistan will be a
priority.
It should be noted that with the announcement of tickets,
election activities in Gilgit-Baltistan reached their peak.
