Makkah: The Kaaba’s covering will be changed on the 1st of
Muharram al-Haram like every year.
A ceremony was held on behalf of the Custodian of the Two
Holy Mosques to hand over the new Kaaba’s covering. In the ceremony, the new
Kaaba’s covering was handed over to the Kaleed Brother of the Kaaba.
It should be noted that the Kaaba’s covering, also known as
the Kiswah, is changed according to the new tradition on the 1st of Muharram
al-Haram, the beginning of the Hijri year. A spiritual ceremony will be
organized in this regard.
Hundreds of kilograms of silk, silver and gold threads are
used in the preparation of the Kaaba’s covering.
