Customs’ major operation: Foreign and prohibited goods worth Rs 4.5 billion set on fire

In a major and historic operation against smuggling, Quetta Pakistan Customs burned seized foreign and prohibited goods worth about Rs 4.5 billion. The goods to be destroyed were transported to the destruction site in 64 trucks under tight security.

Chief Collector Balochistan Customs Masood, Collector Customs Shahid Jan and Secretary Excise Balochistan were also present on the occasion, while Customs Police and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel maintained strict security arrangements during the transfer and destruction of the goods.

 

According to customs officials, the destroyed goods included various types of foreign items, prohibited goods and smuggled products, which were seized during various operations. The goods were destroyed by setting them on fire after fulfilling the prescribed legal requirements.



Speaking to the media on this occasion, Collector Customs Shahid Jan said that Pakistan Customs is committed to eliminating smuggling and protecting the national economy. He said, “God willing, billions of rupees worth of illegal, smuggled and prohibited goods will be destroyed every month to discourage illegal trade and protect the country’s industry and business.

He further said that the ongoing campaign against smuggling is being made more effective and strict action will continue against the elements involved in illegal trade with the cooperation of law enforcement agencies.



Secretary Excise Baluchistan also appreciated the action of Customs on this occasion and said that all the relevant agencies are working under a joint strategy to eliminate smuggling and action against the elements involved in illegal trade will be further intensified.

Customs officials say that such actions will not only be helpful in preventing smuggling that harms the national exchequer but will also play an important role in promoting legal trade and stabilizing the country’s economy.
