Facilities in government schools are deteriorating further, and alarming statistics are public

Islamabad: Facilities in government schools are in further decline, and alarming figures have come to light in the Economic Survey 2025-26.

According to the document, 35 percent of government schools are still deprived of electricity facilities, while only 65 percent of government schools have electricity facilities. Electricity facilities in schools have declined by 2 percent compared to last year, 21 percent in Balochistan and 32 percent in Sindh have electricity facilities.

According to the Economic Survey, toilet facilities in government schools are also very poor. 23 percent of government schools in the country are deprived of toilet facilities; the figures for toilet facilities have decreased by one percent compared to last year.

According to the document, toilet facilities in government schools in Balochistan are non-existent and only 0.3 percent of government schools in Balochistan have toilets.

According to the Economic Survey, there has been no improvement in the drinking water facilities in government schools. The drinking water facility in government schools remains at 76 percent. 24 percent of the country's government schools are still deprived of a drinking water facility.

According to the document, the boundary wall facility in government schools has further deteriorated. 25 percent of government schools do not have a boundary wall facility. The boundary wall facility in government schools has declined by 4 percent compared to the previous year.

According to the Economic Survey, 75 percent of government schools have boundary walls in the current fiscal year, while 79 percent of government schools had boundary wall facilities in the previous fiscal year.
