Karachi: Due to the repayment of external debts, the State Bank of Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves recorded a significant decrease of $1.305 billion in one week, after which the State Bank’s reserves decreased to $15.916 billion.
According to the State Bank, the government received $700
million in multilateral funding, while the government’s commercial loans worth
$1.7 billion have also been refinanced. The central bank’s report said that
this amount of commercial loans will be added to foreign exchange reserves next
week.
On the other hand, the reserves of commercial banks
increased by $48 million, after which their reserves reached $5.56 billion.
In addition, the data also revealed that the country’s total
foreign exchange reserves decreased by $1.26 billion in a week, from $22.74
billion to $21.48 billion.
