Beijing: A video of a robot in China kneeling on the side of
the road and asking for money from citizens has gone viral on social media.
A unique and thrilling incident has come to light in the
Chinese province of Sichuan where a humanoid robot was seen kneeling on the
roadside and begging for money from citizens. The video of this incident is
rapidly going viral on Chinese social media.
According to the report, this robot had placed a charity
bowl and a QR code for digital payment in front of it, while a board nearby had
written that I do not have money for recharging, please help me with the
electricity fee.
According to the report, although it is not clear which
company or individual did this act, experts have identified the robot as the
‘Unitree G1’ model manufactured by the Chinese robotics company ‘Unitree
Robotics’ based in Hangzhou. After the video surfaced on Chinese social media,
users are making various comments.
Some users say that the video is a satire on the world of
robotics and the growing economic pressure, while a local citizen jokingly
wrote that robots are now even replacing beggars.
The incident comes at a time when Chinese robotics
technology is facing severe criticism. In April this year, a spectacle was held
during the Beijing Yizhuang Half Marathon in which more than 300 humanoid
robots participated.
However, as soon as the race started, several robots fell,
collided with each other or hit obstacles, after which they were severely
mocked on the Internet.
