Hyderabad: The Wildlife Department took action and recovered
16 rare pelican birds, foiling a smuggling attempt. According to officials, the
team cracked down on the Indus Highway and grabbed the accused, who were
transporting the birds from Dadu to Karachi.
Similarly, the process of registering a case against the
accused under the Sindh Wildlife Protection Act has been initiated. On the
other hand, the Wildlife Department said that further investigations are
underway regarding the smuggling network.
It should be remembered that pelicans are considered rare
water birds and their illegal hunting and sale is considered a serious threat
to wildlife.
