Accused who took Rs 1.70 million in the name of a Russian work visa arrested.

Islamabad: Federal Investigation Agency Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Rawalpindi arrested accused Ghulam Qasim alias Dr. Qasim, son of Ghulam Hussain, after completing inquiry number 1095/2024. The accused stole a total of Rs 1.70 million through various bank accounts under the pretext of sending the complainant’s son, Muhammad Zahid on a work visa to Russia, but neither arranged the work visa nor returned the money.

Investigation revealed that the accused received these amounts through multiple transactions in different bank accounts during the years 2023 and 2024. The accused failed to join the inquiry proceedings, upon which, after approval from the competent authority, FIR No. 438/2025 was registered under Sections 18, 22 of the Immigration Ordinance 1979 and Section 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The accused Ghulam Qasim was arrested and presented in the court, where physical remand was granted. During the investigation, the full amount of Rs. 10 lakh 70 thousand was recovered from the accused.
