Agent who extorted $10,000 each in the name of fake HEC scholarships and US university admissions arrested


 Islamabad: Federal Investigation Agency Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Islamabad arrested an organized agent and human smuggler Muhammad Zohaib son of Muhammad Zulfiqar Bhatti from Sialkot on July 23, 2026.

The accused was running an agency in Sialkot under the name “Broadway Consultancy”. Investigation revealed that the accused extorted $10,000 each from several students and applicants by deceiving them of admissions to the University of Nevada Reno, USA and Higher Education Commission (HEC) funded PhD scholarships.

The accused provided the victims with fake and forged documents in the name of Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan, which were later declared fake by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) upon verification.

A case has been registered against the accused under FIR No. 188/26 under sections 420, 468 and 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

This operation was carried out by ASI Mazhar Shah and the FIA ​​team led by Assistant Director Investigation Muhammad Noman.
