The Islamabad High Court has set July 21 for hearing the
petition regarding departmental inquiry against former Director General,
National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), Waqaruddin Syed. Chief
Justice of the Islamabad High Court Justice Sarfaraz Dogar will hear the
petition. The court has issued notices to the Establishment Division and the
Interior Ministry and sought a detailed report from them.
In its interim order, the court has restrained the relevant
authorities from taking any disciplinary action against the petitioner
Waqaruddin Syed, while instructions have also been issued to the law officer
for judicial assistance.
It may be recalled that the Establishment Division had
issued a charge sheet and details of the allegations against Waqaruddin Syed on
June 3, 2026, which the petitioner has challenged in the court. Now the
Islamabad High Court will review the matter and hold a hearing in the light of
the parties' positions and relevant records.
