Islamabad: Sardar Iftikhar Rashid Chughtai has rejected the
alleged allegations and character assassination made by former Azad Kashmir
Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan and has initiated legal action.
Sardar Iftikhar Rashid Chughtai has sent a legal notice to
Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, in which he has raised strong objections to the
alleged baseless and defamatory allegations.
The legal notice has taken the position that Sardar Tanveer
Ilyas Khan’s statements have damaged the reputation and honor of Sardar
Iftikhar Rashid Chughtai, for which he has been demanded to withdraw his
allegations and publicly apologize.
According to the notice, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan has been
demanded to unconditionally apologize for the allegedly defamatory statements
within a specified period, otherwise legal action will be taken against him.
The legal notice also demands Rs 5 billion in damages.
Sardar Iftikhar Rashid Chughtai has made it clear that the alleged character
assassination and allegations against him will not be tolerated under any
circumstances and all available avenues will be taken to protect his legal
rights.
According to sources, the matter may assume further legal
and political significance in the coming days, while further progress on the
matter is expected after the positions taken by both sides.
