A high-level delegation from the United Arab Emirates, led
by Director General of Customs and Port Security Ahmed bin Lahij Al-Falasi, met
with Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, in which detailed discussions were
held on making the immigration process more convenient.
During this time, a formal agreement was agreed between
Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates regarding pre-immigration clearance.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that this new system will initially
be launched from Karachi under a pilot project.
According to Mohsin Naqvi, under pre-immigration clearance,
the immigration and related clearance of passengers will be completed in
Pakistan itself, after which they will not have to go through the lengthy immigration
process upon reaching the United Arab Emirates. Under this system, passengers
will be able to exit the airport directly like in domestic travel.
The Federal Interior Minister said that this initiative will
play an important role in making travel more convenient, saving time and
improving the overall experience of passengers.
The UAE delegation described this initiative as beneficial
for the people of both countries and assured all possible cooperation.
Coordination between the relevant authorities will continue to finalize the
administrative and technical aspects of the pilot project, while after the
success of the project, the system will be gradually expanded to other cities.
The delegation included Executive Director Digital
Transformation Jama Abdullah Al Qabi, Executive Director Airports Hammad Saif
Al Mashghouni and other senior officials. Minister of State for Interior Talal
Chaudhry and Federal Secretary Interior Khurram Agha were also present in the
meeting.
