According to sources, when the suspicious vehicle coming
from Afghanistan was stopped and searched by Customs officials deployed at
Torkham Import Terminal, a huge quantity of silver hidden in it was recovered,
which was being tried to be illegally transported across the border. As a
result of timely action, the national treasury was saved from possible loss.
According to officials, the seized silver has been taken
into legal custody and further investigation has been initiated, while action
is being taken against the involved persons as per the law.
Senior officials appreciated the performance of the
concerned officials and termed it a matter of pride for the department and said
that such responsible actions play an important role in strengthening border
security.
