Multan: A gang that hacked the IDs of customs officers and
sold expensive vehicles through fake auctions has been exposed.
According to details, a few months ago, sensitive agencies
had informed the Chairman FBR that 103 expensive vehicles were sold in the
market through fake auctions using the IDs of several officers, including
Deputy Collector of Customs Fariduddin, Naeem Ahmed and a female officer.
Instead of investigating this serious matter, the Chairman FBR tried to
suppress the matter by registering an FIR against his three officers, arresting
Deputy Collector Customs Naeem Ahmed and a female officer and handing over the
case to the FIA.
The customs officers repeatedly stated that our IDs were
hacked and the vehicles were cleared, but the FBR chairman did not accept and dismissed
them from the service. After that, the FIA officer kept telling the customs
officials that we needed access to the computer systems but were denied by FBR.
On this, the FIA continued its investigation without the
cooperation of the customs authorities.
A few days ago, Hafiz Amin, the data operator of PRAL, was
arrested in Multan.
During the investigation, he said that he had hacked the IDs
of more than 20 customs officers and got 83 vehicles registered and sold by
Imran Mayo, a resident of Lahore. It has also been learned from sources that
Ammar Ali Khan, a Grade 19 officer of Audit and Accounts, a resident of Multan,
along with Imran Mayo, sold valuable vehicles worth crores of rupees to influential
bureaucrats, which were cleared through fake auctions, while Audit and Accounts
Officer Ammar Ali Khan also has an imported Crown vehicle worth Rs 1.5 crore
registered in his own name. Which was cleared through fake auctions.
The customs team also tried to recover the vehicle from him,
but Ammar Ali Khan is so influential that the customs team remained silent and
did not recover the vehicle, as he is under the support of the Additional
Collector of Customs.
According to the report of the Prime Minister's Inspection
Team, the said Additional Collector is directly involved in smuggling, but the
Additional Collector is so influential that instead of taking action against
him, the Chairman FBR has given him an important position in the Policy Wing.
Now, it remains to be seen whether, after the arrest of the
PRAL Data Officer Hafiz Naeem, the FIA and Customs authorities will take
action against these influential officers and recover the vehicles or will they
remain silent as before and the innocent customs officers who were arrested
after registering a false case are reinstated or will these officers be made
scapegoats to avoid their own disgrace.
After contacted FBR spokesperson in this matter, he said to
the media that strict action will be taken against the officers who commit
criminal acts, no matter how influential they are, and justice will be done to
the customs officers against whom FIRs were registered based on a misunderstanding.
