Tokyo: In view of climate change, global warming and the increasing heat waves around the world, Japan has introduced a unique human fridge to provide instant cooling to humans.
This innovative cooling system has been jointly developed by
a Japanese company and an industrial equipment manufacturing corporation, which
is capable of reducing body temperature in a few minutes through powerful cold
air.
This cooling unit is about 7 feet high and 3.9 feet wide,
while its design resembles a vending machine or refrigerator. According to the
company, spending about 10 minutes in this cooling unit can significantly
reduce symptoms of heat exhaustion.
The temperature inside the unit is kept at 15 degrees
Celsius, while cool air of 5 degrees Celsius is directly applied to the head,
neck, shoulders and back. For the user's safety, the system automatically shuts
off after 20 minutes to prevent the body from cooling down too much.
The company claims that this is the world's first device
that can cool the entire body at once and lowers body temperature faster than
conventional air conditioning.
According to the company, the device is also
energy-efficient and costs about 16 yen per hour to operate, but the price of a
single unit is set at about 1.5 million Japanese yen (more than 10,000 US
dollars).
