The government decides to create a historical web series

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has announced that the government has taken a principled decision to produce a historical web series to highlight the lives and services of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal on a global scale.

A high-level consultative meeting was held under the chairmanship of Ahsan Iqbal, in which renowned producers, directors and representatives of media houses participated.

Addressing the meeting, the Federal Minister said that the 150th anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal will not be limited to formal celebrations but will be made a means of awakening national consciousness and intellectual revival.

He stressed that in the present era, digital storytelling is the most effective tool for nation-building, through which the young generation can be made aware of the ideological journey of the establishment of Pakistan and the importance of constitutionalism.

Ahsan Iqbal, while giving details of the project, said that the government will provide an initial amount (seed funding) of Rs. 500 million for this world-class production. Along with this, special workshops will also be organized for writers and researchers to ensure historical authenticity and intellectual depth in the content of the series.

He said that historical dramas are the best source of soft power and cultural diplomacy of any country and Pakistan will further strengthen its positive global identity through this creative industry. The participants of the meeting agreed on a strategy to adapt national history to modern requirements and also considered the need for Pakistan’s own OTT platform.

The Federal Minister reiterated the commitment that the ideological foundation of Pakistan will be strengthened by presenting the thoughts of national heroes in a modern and inspiring manner so that our intellectual heritage can be effectively presented to the whole world.
