According to Sources, even before the arrival of Ramadan,
the prices of everyday items have suddenly become uncontrollable. There has
been an extraordinary increase in the prices of vegetables, fruits and
commodities in the last few days. Oil, ghee, gram flour, tomatoes, potatoes,
bread, eggs, bananas, apples, and other items have become expensive.
In Islamabad, tomatoes have become expensive by Rs 40 per kg
in 4 days and are now being sold at Rs 120 per kg instead of Rs 80, while the
price of potatoes per kg has also increased from Rs 40 to Rs 50 per kg.
The price of flour per kg has increased from Rs 320 to Rs
350. Cooking oil and ghee have also become expensive by Rs 20 per kg. Grade I
ghee and oil have increased from Rs 580 to Rs 600, while the price of grade III
ghee and oil has increased from Rs 510 to Rs 530 per kg.
There has also been a sudden increase in the price of roti
and paratha, and roti and naan have become Rs 25 after an increase of Rs 5.
Khamiri naan has been increased from Rs 25 to Rs 30, while kulcha has been
increased to Rs 35. The price of tandoori paratha and rogni naan has been
increased from Rs 50 to Rs 60. Tea has also become expensive in hotels and now
a cup of tea is being sold for Rs 70 instead of Rs 60.
In four days, country eggs have also become expensive by Rs
30 per dozen and now country brown eggs are being sold for Rs 500 per dozen
from Rs 470.
Similarly, the price of grade three apples has increased
from Rs 150 to Rs 200 per kilogram and grade three bananas from Rs 140 to Rs
180 per dozen.
