Open manholes at Quaid-e-Azam International Hospital pose a
threat to human life. Open manholes in the premises of Quaid-e-Azam
International Hospital, a private medical institution located in the federal
capital Islamabad, have become a serious threat to patients, attendants and
passers-by.
According to eyewitnesses, the sewer covers near the main
entrance of the hospital are missing, due to which an unpleasant incident can
occur at any time. Hundreds of patients, senior citizens, women and children
pass through this route every day, while the risk increases further due to
inadequate lighting at night.
Locals say that the hospital administration collects crores
of rupees in fees, but basic safety arrangements are being ignored. Citizens
have demanded that the concerned authorities and the hospital administration
immediately cover the manholes and take appropriate safety measures so that no
precious life is lost.
Public circles have warned that if timely action is not
taken, the responsibility for any accident will lie with the hospital
administration.
