Karachi: Negotiations between the Federal Board of Revenue
and the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewelers Association have failed.
The Chairman FBR met three times and all three times were
fruitless. The All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewelers Association will go on a
nationwide strike over the implementation of 175C. President Qasim Shikarpuri
said that gold traders across the country will not accept the clause of 175C. Tit
is noted that the FBR will appoint officers under 175C to inspect the gold
industry.
He said that two FBR officers will be posted at gold shops
and conduct audits. FBR officers can sit at the place of business for an
unlimited period at any time. Qasim Shikarpuri further said that 175C will be
implemented from the 4th of April, which they will not accept.
