Lahore: The recent increase in petroleum product prices has been challenged in the Lahore High Court.
A miscellaneous petition was filed in the Lahore High Court
by the Judicial Activism Panel. The petition took the position that the price
of petroleum products was increased by Rs 26.77 in the darkness of night, and that
this increase will lead to inflation in the country.
The petition requested that the court declare the increase
in the prices of petroleum products null and void. The government has
significantly increased the prices of petroleum products and increased the
prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 26.77 per liter.
According to the notification issued by the Petroleum
Division, the new price of diesel has been set at Rs 380.19 per liter, while
the price of petrol has been increased to Rs 393.35 per liter.
