Abu Dhabi: According to the UAE Ministry of Defense, Iran
fired four missiles at the UAE, but the Emirati air defense system took timely
action and successfully thwarted the attack.
According to a foreign news agency, three missiles launched
from Iran were destroyed on the way, while the fourth missile fell into the sea
and became inoperable.
The Ministry of Defense says that the missiles were targeted
at important facilities in Abu Dhabi, but no major damage was reported.
According to officials, the country's air force and missile defense system have
been put on high alert and all possible measures are being taken to protect the
territory and the people.
In view of the situation, flight operations at Dubai and
Sharjah airports have been temporarily suspended, while security agencies are
on alert. For the first time since the US-Iran ceasefire, an emergency missile
threat alert was issued in the UAE, which has caused concern among citizens.
According to media reports, authorities warned in a message
sent to mobile phones that citizens should immediately move to safe places in
view of the possible missile threat and await further instructions. However,
authorities issued a second message shortly after, declaring the situation
“safe” and allowing citizens to resume their normal lives, but also advising
them to continue to exercise caution.
On the other hand, a fire has been confirmed in the Fujairah
Petroleum Industrial Zone, which is being attributed to an alleged drone attack
by Iran. Officials say that Fujairah Civil Defense teams immediately reached
the scene and are making strenuous efforts to control the fire.
According to initial reports, efforts are being made to limit the fire to industrial facilities, while emergency measures have been taken to prevent further damage.
