Islamabad: Pakistan has categorically rejected a CBS News report that made misleading and sensational claims regarding the presence of Iranian aircraft at Nur Khan Airbase.
The Foreign Office has said that such speculative narratives
are apparently fabricated to undermine ongoing efforts for stability and peace
in the region.
The statement said that after the ceasefire and during the
initial round of talks in Islamabad, several aircraft from Iran and the United
States arrived in Pakistan to facilitate the movement of diplomatic personnel,
security teams and administrative staff associated with the negotiation
process. Some aircraft and support staff remained temporarily in Pakistan in
anticipation of possible future rounds of negotiations.
The Foreign Ministry further stated that although formal
negotiations have not yet resumed, high-level diplomatic contacts have
continued.
In this context, the Iranian Foreign Minister's visits to
Islamabad were made possible by the existing administrative and logistical
facilities. The Iranian aircraft in Pakistan arrived during the ceasefire and has
nothing to do with any military emergency or security arrangement. Claims to
the contrary are mere speculation, misleading and completely devoid of facts.
According to the Foreign Office, Pakistan has always
supported dialogue and de-escalation as a neutral, constructive and responsible
facilitator. In this role, Pakistan has provided administrative and logistical
support as required, while maintaining complete transparency and continuous
communication with all relevant parties.
The Foreign Office has made it clear that Pakistan remains
committed to supporting all sincere efforts to promote peace, stability, and
security, de-escalate tensions, and engage in meaningful dialogue in the region
and around the world.
